Waterfront Vacation Lodging offering Fishing, Hunting, Snowmobiling, Wildlife Watching
& Just Plain Relaxation
Maine’s whitetail deer is perhaps
the most sought after big game animal in the Northeast. Here in the BIG
WOODS, the deer offer the greatest challenge to the experienced hunter.
Most hunters come to Maine for the challenge of the hunt, and the prospects
of bagging a trophy BUCK - one weighing in at over 200 pounds. There are many big ones out there that have never seen
a human being in these woods!
An excellent variety of terrain surrounds Mt Chase Lodge. Hardwood
ridges, cedar swamps, clear cuts and abandoned farms and orchards make
for excellent hunting areas.
Accommodations at Mt Chase Lodge are comfortable and spacious, consisting
of private rooms in the main lodge, as well as individual cabins, sleeping
4-8 hunters each. Hearty meals are served family style in the finest
tradition, and there is always enough for those big appetites.
After dinner, relaxing in front of the fireplace always spurs interesting
tales of the one that got away and the one that DIDN’T.
BY LAW hunters have to wear TWO articles
of fluorescent orange visible from all directions, a hat, and orange
coat or vest covering the upper part of the body.
A compass is a must in these woods, and more recently, GPS units are
very handy.
Well maintained logging roads run deep into the region providing good
access, and while four wheel drive vehicles are an asset, they are not
necessary for a successful hunt.
It is recommended that first time hunters to this area invest in the
services of a local guide. This can be done through the lodge. Guides
typically will handle up to four hunters and can be very helpful in
educating new hunters to the opportunities in the area, and aiding in
a successful hunt. Rates for guides are available upon request.
