Matagamon Scout Crews:
begin your "High Adventure"
at Mt. Chase Lodge
Congratulations on your decision to plan a trip to the Matagamon Base for your scout troop. It will surely be an exciting and memorable trip for all who attend.
Since 1976, Mt Chase Lodge has been simplifying trip planning logistics for troop leaders by providing a convenient place to lodge and eat at reasonable cost for crews arriving and departing from the Matagamon High Adventure Scout Base. We are twenty minutes from the Matagamon Base landing.
- We eliminate your need to bring extra food and gear.
- We offer airport shuttles for Troops from far away.
- After a good night’s rest and a hearty Maine breakfast, crews making the trip are excited and ready for their trek adventure on arrival.
Most of our groups arrive in the late afternoon, giving everyone a chance to rest and unwind before dinner, which is usually served about 6:00 pm.
After dinner, many enjoy a quiet paddle on our lake, or a swim off our dock before turning in. We have been told on numerous occasions that Mt. Chase Lodge makes an excellent transition spot for this trip, and we enjoy having the scout crews with us!
Lodging Packages
We offer two lodging options for crews opting to stay with us:
- Two meals, dinner and breakfast, and in house lodging in our main lodge, or available cabins for $42 per person, plus applicable sales tax (presently 7%);
- Or, two meals, as above, and outside lodging in our 4-6 man staff tents for $29 per person, plus applicable sales tax (presently 7%).
Transportation Services
We offer ROUND TRIP VAN TRANSPORTATION to the Matagamon Scout Base from Bangor for crews who find it more convenient to fly or bus into Maine.
We are only an hour and forty five minute drive from the airport or bus station. With one phone call, leadership can arrange both transportation and lodging with meals, making the travel logistics planning process vastly simpler.
The round trip cost for this service is $75 per person.
Crews considering this are urged to contact us early, as we may be able to advise them on the best and most cost effective options for public transportation, based on our many years of experience.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CAN BE AVAILABLE ON A 24 HOUR A DAY BASIS IF THAT IS WHAT YOUR ITINERARY REQUIRES!
Departure Services
After coming off the trail, many crews opt to spend their last night in Maine with us as well, especially if we are providing transportation to Bangor for plane or bus connections. This allows you to get a restful start for your trip home.
Trip Planning
We strongly recommend that crews wishing to make reservations with us do so at the time they make their initial reservations with the Matagamon High Adventure base. This avoids scheduling problems later on. A 25% crew deposit is required to confirm reservations.
Over the years, hundreds of scout crews have found our services to be a tremendous help in their trip planning efforts.
